Higonokami je najpoznatiji japanski dzepni noz. Vec sama rijec „Higonokami“ znaci plemic/samuraj iz Kamija. Higo je povijesno ime pokrajine Kumamamoto na otoku Kyushu.
Kad su tek poceli izradjivati taj noz u metropoli nozarstva Miki, brzo se rasirio po cijelom Japanu i SAD kao siljilo za olovke, sto je jedna od funkcija tog svestranog nozica.
Oblik noza slici obliku katane, a to nije slucajnost vec povezanost sa samurajskom tradicijom. Noz se, naime, pojavio prvi put 1896. godine kao odgovor na reforme u 19. stoljecu koje su zabranile izradjivanje oruzja. Tako su kovaci, umjesto oruzja, poceli izradjivati nozeve medju kojima su bili i mali dzepni Higonokamiji.
Srce noza je Aogami #1 celik, obucen u 2 slojeva mekseg celika. Obadva celika imaju manji procent kroma. To znaci da ce ostrica nakon odredjenog vremena dobiti malo patine. Dobra strana tog celika je precizna i njezna ostrina koja izdrzi duze vrijeme i jednostavno brusenje.
Radi se o malom, laganom nozu, jednostavnog oblika, napravljenom od kvalitetnog japanskog celika i prikladnom za svestranu upotrebu. Proizvod nije pogodan za kontakt s hranom.
Duljina dzepnog noza duzine 80 mm spakirana je u lijepu malu kartonsku kutiju.
ODRZAVANJE JAPANSKIH OSTRICA - NJEGA NOZEVA S PATINOM
Noz je najosjetljiviji kada je nov i kada se jos nije razvila patina, no kasnije ce patina zastititi ostricu i ona ce biti manje osjetljiva. Takvi nozevi zahtijevaju malo vise njege, stoga savjetujemo:
✔️ Rucno pranje toplom vodom i susenje suhom krpom. ✔️ Redovito brisanje cistom i suhom krpom (moze i tijekom upotrebe).✔️ Nakon upotrebe noz dobro operite pod mlakom vodom i brizljivo obrisite.✔️ Možete ga namazati Ballistol uljem, Camellia/Tsubaki uljem ili obicnim rafiniranim suncokretovim uljem.✔️ Mozete ga zastititi zamotanog u papir koji upija vlagu.✔️ Za brusenje se koristi vodobrusno kamenje, a stapovi za ravnanje i popravljanje ostrine tijekom koristenja.✔️ Pohranjena ostrica mora biti uvijek zasticena da ne dodje u kontakt s ostalim kuhinjskim priborom.✔️ Upotreba drvene, plasticne ili gumene kuhinjske daske.
❌ Nemojte rezati na staklu, keramici, mramoru, celiku, posudi za pecenje…❌ Nemojte rezati kosti i smrznute namirnice.❌ Nije primjerena za pranje u perilici za sudje.❌ Noz je alat, namijenjen specificnoj upotrebi. Nemojte se njime koristiti za radove kojima nije namijenjen → otvaranje kokosa, sjeca kostiju, otvaranje konzervi, vrtlarstvo…
Higonokami is the most famous Japanese pocket knife. It enjoys the same kind of fame in Japan as the Swiss army knife does in Switzerland and around the globe.
Higonokami is a small, lightweight and durable pocket knife of simple design, suitable for versatile use. The BRASS version is made of quality, traditional Japanese Aogami #1 blue steel (hardened to around 62 HRC) with a very fine, gentle sharpness. Aogami steel is a carbon steel alloy which makes Higonokami ⚠️ not stain resistant ⚠️, but easy to resharpen. This knife needs good maintenance and the blade will develop a light patina over time and use. After the use rinse it well and dry it, we recommend oiling the blade regularly in order to prevent the development of rust. Higonokami has no locking system, it uses friction to keep the blade securely in place. The blade can be extracted from its brass handle by pushing down on the iconic level, called chikiri. During use, we should keep a thumb on the level to prevent the knife from folding.
The shape of the Higonokami pocket knife is based on the katana, which is not a coincidence since knife manufacturing is deeply embedded in the samurai tradition. The knife first appeared in 1896 in response to reforms in the 19th century, which banned the production of weapons, so blacksmiths began to produce knives, among others also these small pocket Higonokamis. The Higonokami is produced by Kanekoma, a company with over 100 years of experience in forging knives.
When Higonokamis began to be manufactured in Miki, the knife manufacturing metropolis, it spread rapidly throughout Japan and the United States, where it was mostly used for pencil sharpening - just one of the many functions of this versatile small pocket knife.
The 80mm (3.14") blade length version of the pocket knife is packed in a cute little cardboard box.
☝️ Fun fact: The small four Kanji characters on the handle of the Higonokami mean Registered Trademark. The first three big characters translate to Higonokami (the name of the knife), and the last two are the name of the maker (Kanekoma).
